Central America, Guatemala and the Global Peace Index

GPI (Global Peace Index) includes indicators of the presence / absence of violence or fear of violence. The indicators were originally selected with the help of an international panel of independent experts in 2007 and have been reviewed by the panel of experts on an annual basis. All scores for each indicator are normalized on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the lowest or failing grade and where qualitative and quantitative indicators are grouped.

Quantitative values are collected from different sources, while qualitative values are evaluated by The Economist Intelligence Unit, by reference to the opinion of the group of analysts assigned to each country. The analyst team has scored seven of the eight qualitative and also provided estimates where there have been gaps in quantitative data.

In summary, the Global Peace Index is based on perceptions that measures the level of peace in a country or region indicator. First published in 2007, claims to be the first study to establish a ranking of countries based on their lack of violence. The parameters considered in the study include internal variables such as levels of violence and crime, but also external, such as military spending and the wars in which they are participating. Although based on perceptions, this effort can be assessed and used to make comparisons between countries. Additional Information in the follow link: Vision of Humanity
